Stages of Service Learning
Investigation-Students will be identifying and researching issues with immigration in the U.S in their small project groups.
Preparation & Planning- Students acquire information through various means, such as the internet, library, their peers, teachers, and family members. After initial research students will plan and organize their video project and issues paper.
Action-Students create a public service announcement video discussing their group’s issue and their suggested action plan to help fix the issue. They then post their videos onto You Tube to share with the world. The best video in the class will win a spot on the school’s afternoon video announcements to spread their message to the school.
Reflection- Students will include a personal reflection of what they learned in their papers.
Demonstration- Students design their own PSA videos focused on their groups issue and a possible action plan to fight that issue. They post their videos to You Tube and the best group shares their video with the school.
Evaluation- Students will complete a peer evaluation of their group members. We will evaluate the students video’s and papers based on completion of the given criteria, effort, and participation.
