Overview of 10 day unit in Mr. Jensen's Class:
Immigration is one of the most defining factors in what constitutes the American character. In this ten day unit, the students will gain a better understanding of the history and major issues surrounding immigration in the United States. The first five days will be reserved for learning about the experiences of Irish, Italian, Jewish, Chinese, and Mexican immigrant communities. In our look at these immigrant groups the students will look at the topics of discrimination, assimilation supplemented by demographics and primary source documents. In the last five days of this unit the students will be spending their time independently researching about a current issue in immigration, and will create a PSA video to help explain their groups selected issue.
